SQ vs ST lineup

R-Line V6: SQ (short) vs ST (stick) — we ordered the 1480 SQ**

The pack was in the box and I thought: “1480 mAh on an 8-inch — isn’t that ridiculously small?” Short answer: for first flight, no. We needed a light 6S pack. Power ESC, flight controller, and later video on the bench. Not a heavy long-range Li-ion yet. So we ordered the Tattu R-Line V6 SQ 1480 mAh 6S 160C with native XT60.

Why this pack

On our AOS UL8 V5 we want short test flights first. Props. Pacer 60A V2. PM02D. Then digital FPV.

A 1480 mAh high-C SQ is light (~213–220 g). Matches XT60 on ESC and power module. Keeps CG compact. Flight times stay short — that’s fine. We keep BATT_* failsafes tight in ArduPilot.

We skipped stick packs (ST) and larger capacity for later. Those wait until long-range is real. For bench work and short 8″ flights, SQ is enough. Will we regret 1480 later? Maybe. First make this one work.

What we do with it

Tattu 6S XT60 ──► XT60H Y-splitter (1→3)
                    ├──► Pacer 60A V2 (motors)
                    ├──► PM02D → Pixhawk POWER1
                    └──► DJI O4 Air Unit Pro (7.4–26.4 V)

Splitter and adapters: XT60 connectors. Power architecture: power & capacitors. Process: step 2 — FC & power.

Charge & safety (short):

  • Explainer 1S–6S, voltage, charging: LiPo batteries explained.
  • Balance-charge only on a 6S charger. HOTA S6 ordered — charger choice. Storage ~3.8 V/cell when not flying.
  • Never hot-plug with props on. Check polarity before first plug.
  • 1480 mAh on 8″ / F100 = short flights — monitor BATT_* failsafe.

Our pick: 1480 SQ, not ST, not a bigger LR pack yet. Enough C for F100 + Pacer, native XT60, light for first flight. Rosser’s data calmed us that V6 isn’t just a sticker; Oscar/Bardwell mainly confirm “R-Line = expensive but strong”.
